As the title suggests, I have a little less than one week to relax before fall quarter starts. Last Friday I finished my last summer quarter assignment (a nice 14 pager). This weekend was really nice except for Sunday when Adam was sick. However, taking care of him was really not that bad. My mothering instincts kicked in and he was more than happy to let me baby him. Yesterday was not exactly relaxing, though. I was nervous all day because I was to see my first client at 5 p.m. But I got through it. My nerves disappeared once we were in the room and it went pretty well. I do have to say that I felt much more comfortable this time with a real client and no one watching me through a one-way mirror. I have another new client on Wednesday but I don't think I will be as nervous as yesterday. So to sum up my experience of my last week of relaxation so far: I haven't really been able to relax. I really needed a week of nothing on my schedule except fun stuff. I thought cutting out work would help but practicum is enough to keep me stressed. If I'm really honest with myself, though, I would probably be stressing myself out about fall quarter if I didn't have practicum this week. Well, that's all for now. Have a good week! -Darcy | | |
| Well, we did it. Adam and I joined MySpace. You can find us at:
Darcy: www.myspace.com/darcyam
Adam: www.myspace.com/awmiller
This does not mean that we will be giving up on xanga. No, rather I will continue to post on both xanga and myspace (probably the same posts) and Adam will write on his myspace.
Sorry, that's all for now.

| We returned home from our weekend trip almost unscathed, pretty relaxed, and refreshed. I say almost unscathed because I was fighting off bugs on the last trail we hiked and I was trying to put my sunglasses on at the same time which resulted in a swollen lip (yes, I hit myself in the mouth). Other than that, we did well climbing over rocks and such.
The sequoia trees are pretty freaking amazing. They are soo big. I am going to put some pictures up. Now, we took about 220 pictures, trimmed them down to about 150 to keep and so it is going to be hard to pick just a few. I'll do my best.
These are two of the first sequoias we saw.

I felt so small next to these huge trees.

This is the Sentinel tree. Note: they name the biggest sequoia trees. Second note: it is very difficult to get the entire tree in a picture.

I'm holding up the rock.

The view from Sunset Rock

This is Sunset Rock - if you look close you can see me waving in the middle of the picture

This is General Sherman - the largest living organism in the world. They have estimated it to be between 2400 - 2700 years old.

Here is the view half way up Moro Rock (elevation almost 7000 ft)

This is Grizzly Falls

Kings River

Roaring River Fall
Well, those are the highlights. It was a really great trip.

| Yesterday was our Anniversary. We have been married for three years now. It seems like a long time on one hand. Yet, on the other, it feels like I have been married to Adam forever... it just seems natural. Anyway, it was a good day. Adam suprised me with a rose. We watched our wedding video and lit our unity candle (which has become an anniversary tradition). We went out to eat at an Italian restaurant we like. That was not such a good experience - directly following dinner I felt like I was going to get sick. So, we came home and watched the So You Think You Can Dance finale (I wanted Travis to win, but oh well) and then Seinfeld. I just laid on the couch because I felt bad... then we went to bed. Adam was disappointed but, you know, we made our vows in times of sickness AND health. So I just want to thank Adam for being so nice and understanding last night when I felt sick. This weekend we are going away (to Sequoia National Park) for the first time since our honeymoon. I am so excited. I'll let you know how it goes and put some pictures up.

| I am feeling very tired... Summer is not as relaxing as it should be. I am trying somewhat unsuccessfully to finish my work from my intensive classes. I still have another month but I really need some real down time before I start the fall quarter. Thankfully, Adam and I are going away next weekend to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary so I will have the opportunity to have a work-free weekend. We are going to Sequoia National Park. I am very excited about it because I have wanted to see the Giant Sequoia trees for awhile now.
Adam is in a confusing place right now. He is trying to figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. He has been planning on going to law school the last 2 years and is taking the LSAT next month. However, lately he has been questioning whether that is really what he wants to do. Currently, he is considering entering the MFT (Marriage and Family Therapy) program here at Fuller. Basically, he is at that point where he has two good options and is trying to decide which one to choose. Of course, I will support him either way.
I hope everyone has a good weekend.
